Walter and Alice Scherer Honors Scholarship - Incoming Freshmen

The scholarship provides up to two years of tuition (60 credit hours) to current year graduates from high schools in Richland’s District who have a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale or a 4.375 on a 5.0 scale. Non-public high schools must be registered with and recognized by the State Board of Education and published in the most recent Directory of Illinois Recognized Non-public Schools. Students must have no need for developmental courses and must be college-ready. The scholarship provides up to 30 credit hours per year (no summers). Credit hours supported by the scholarship are capped at 15 credits per semester. Recipients will be determined by a selection committee. Students must complete at least one Honors course per semester during year one and must complete an Honors course or Honors project each semester in year two. Students are required to take at least 12 credit hours of 100-level or above courses each semester. After receiving the Walter and Alice Scherer Scholarship, students must maintain a 3.25 GPA. Students must complete all courses covered by the scholarship.
